Basics to Determining Selling Prices
In the past few days, we have discussed the basics to how much to pay for text links. While this blog has not, and in all likelihood will not, provided exact numbers to pay for text links, guidelines and procedures were provided to determine such information on your own. When it comes time to sell links, however, you should have a very different mindset than you had before. You should not look to ask for the same as everyone else, you should look to maximize your revenue and to meet your priorities first.
Sites that generate high traffic are naturally going to make more money through ad revenue. That is obvious. What may not be as obvious, however, is that owning such a site can generate extra income through text linking. Most sites can support ten-twenty text links with no problem. Check some major blog’s blogrolls (right-hand column) and you will notice linking to many different blogs.
Before you begin to place advertisements for link space on forums, make sure you know what you want. Do you want a good website that does not mislead visitors into going to sites geared towards making money, not giving knowledge? Chances are that anyone who pays for links will not have a terrific site. Remember your site carries a part of the reputation of any sites you link to. If you don’t want to risk losing traffic, don’t accept bad links cheaply, if at all.
The other thing you have to decide is how much to charge and how long a payment will last for. Many people who sell links do so on a monthly basis. They allow site owners to place links for say $5, a rough estimate, a month and to cancel this service after any payment. If you have an in-demand site, this is a great option. There are site owners who are willing to pay more for good links. If you choose to allow site owners to have links for a year, or forever, make sure that the price reflects that.
Take time to determine how much you will charge and to look at the links you accept. You are lucky if you have a site that will make money through text links, don’t throw away your advantage by misusing it.
