Why Get Text Links?
Whatever the reason a person has to start a new blog or website, most everyone wants traffic coming in to their creation. Nobody wants to spend time making an online visiting spot only to have no one show up. The popular misconception is that a person only has to make a quality website/blog and it will be just a matter of time before thousands discover it. After all, there are millions upon millions of people searching the web at any given time…right?
Wrong.
What a lot of website newbies don’t know is that new sites are not automatically picked up by major search engines like Google and Yahoo. In fact, they are ignored altogether until they are either submitted in a form or become immensely popular. The best option for most new sites is submitting a form, a process which takes up to three to six months to work out.
Even when a search engine has your site in its database, there is still no guarentee of it showing up in searches. Google, in particular, organizes websites based on relevance and usefulness. They calculate how to rank sites, using their PageRank system, by seeing how many other sites link to your site and how many times a certain keyword shows up. In example, say you have a website on dog collars. The best way to ensure traffic would be to use the term “dog collars” as much as possible, where it logically fits into text of course, and to have other relevant sites, other dog or collar sites, link to you.
Now you can ask for free text links and hope for the best. Sending e-mails and messages to bigger site owners never hurts. But more often than not, you will need to find high page ranked sites and buy text links from them. The more text links you buy, the better chance you have of driving up traffic. And the more traffic you have, the better chance you have of making money off of banners and other ads.
